On the 19th and 20th June 2013 PRV Engineering Ltd had the pleasure of entertaining 50 Children from Ysgol IFOR Bach Primary School in Abertridwr, Caerphilly. The Children, all aged between 7 & 9 years old visited PRV’s impressive facility to interview the CEO and Staff about engineering and the products and services they provide.
During the visit they had a tour of the facility, experiencing how work starts, how computers play a vital part of everyday life in the company and the many stages of manufacture that PRV can do in-house.
The tour finished with each child manufacturing their own piece of work on one of our new state of the art CNC machining centres to be kept as a memento of their visit.
Simon Jones CEO of the company said “I would like to say what an absolute pleasure it was to entertain such a wonderful and extremely well behaved group of young children. They really did put smiles on the faces of all our staff. Their inquisitive minds were very questioning and quite challenging on occasion. Their appreciation of engineering as a whole was quite astonishing.
I hope they have had a memorable day and that we have sparked a desire in some of their young minds to follow engineering as a career choice. Too little is done these days to promote manufacturing as a career choice and the UK’s industry is suffering because of it. I look forward to welcoming many more visits in the future.”

As my Dad was an engineer, he was always saying that schools should do more to encourage youngsters to consider a career in engineering, which sometimes was lacking. So, it’s great to see a successful and expanding local company investing time and effort to support local schools in this way.
